Six months after breaking ground at the northeast corner of Washington and National Boulevards, construction has gone vertical for mixed-use office building from Clarion Partners and Lincoln Property Company.
The project, called 8777 Washington Boulevard, will consist of a four-story building featuring 128,000 square feet of office space above 4,500 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a basement parking structure.
The Gensler-designed building will feature floor-to-ceiling windows on its upper levels, with landscapes and open spaces by SWA Group.
Originally planned as a mix of apartments and offices, the project’s residential component was dropped last year after it was purchased by Clarion and Lincoln. Apple has reportedly leased the entire building to serve as the new home of the company’s content division.
The office building is rising at the site of a building that once was home to the popular restaurant supply store Surfas Culinary District. Surfas has reportedly agreed to return to the new development in some form, although the Culver City store has moved to a new location at the intersection of La Brea and 3rd Avenues.
The project site sits just east of the Expo Line’s Culver City Station, where construction is now underway for a $300-million development that will feature apartments, a hotel, retail, and another office building.
